1 Tim 2:1-2 states “I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Apostle Paul is instructing his son in the faith, Timothy who at this stage was overseeing the churches in Ephesus. Among the many things he said was the intercessory ministry of the believer to the leadership of society.

Like one writer said, everything rises and falls on leadership. Jesus Christ put it this way ‘strike the shepherd and the sheep or flock will scatter.’

Much as the life of the modern man compared to that of the civilization of yesteryears does not interfere with much by leadership, we cannot deny the huge impact leaders of various facet of society have on our everyday living.

These could be positive or negative and reflects on once personal life. If it’s negative, one is unable to live life peacefully and quietly in godliness and holiness, as God desires for us.

Even though God’s desire is made known in the above scripture, the believer has a responsibility to make it good.

Our generation is a very egocentric one, where we have little or no regard for the good of others but ourselves. This has greatly affected the prayer life of the average child of God.

Unlike ‘the bible’ days where individuals like Nehemiah, Daniel, Paul to mention a few could set time aside to pray for their nation and where necessary even fast, the modern man is so consumed with his or her personal issues that no time is made to pray for leaders of our society.

Now our priority must be praying for leadership. Unless and until that happens leadership failure will be a plague to live with.

Pray for all people and leadership in your life now.

Have a glorious day.
