James 1:19-27; “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”.
Hearing tempts us to speak, and speaking is the fire that kindles wrath. If we bridle our speaking, we quench our wrath. A bridle is a headgear used to control a horse, consisting of buckled straps to which a bit and reins are attached; so to walk in practical Christian perfected life we must guide our tongue as to what comes up from within us.
The righteousness of God does not need the help of man’s wrath. The wrath of man is useless in performing the righteousness of God. Guide what you hear from the environment and protect your tongue.
The implanted word of God in the hearts of men is like a plant of life planted into our being and growing in us to bring forth fruit for the salvation of our souls. We need to receive the word of god in meekness, in all submission, without any resistance.
The word of God is like a living plant that is planted into the soil of our heart. After the word of God has been planted into the soil of our heart, it will grow and have the power to save our soul.
To receive the word with meekness is not to reject it, but to be submissive to the word. We should receive God’s word implanted into our being with full submissiveness. Whatever God’s word says, we should receive by saying, “Amen.”
If we receive the implanted word with meekness, with submissiveness, this means we are absolutely open to God’s word. We are like land that is opened to receive seed from the farmer and rain from the sky. God plants, or sows, His word into our heart, and we should receive His word with meekness. Because His word is living, after it has been implanted into our heart, it will grow.
Our prosperity and success lie in the WORD of The Lord. Psalm 1 says it better.
Psalm 1:1-3; “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his Delight Is IN The Law of The Lord, and in his law doth he meditates day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and Whatsoever He Doeth Shall Prosper”.
